NEA Baptist Farmers’ Market Begins June 8

Jonesboro, Ark., June 1, 2017, — The fourth annual NEA Baptist Farmers’ Market series will begin June 8, occurring the second and fourth Thursday in June and July from 7:30 am – 1:00 pm. NEA Baptist began an on-site Farmers’ Market series as a way to promote healthy lifestyles to the community and NEA Baptist colleagues.

NEA Baptist Farmers’ Market will feature only local produce and hand –made items, with a specific health focus and relevant resources at each market. Vendors will be located on the southwest corner of the medical campus, allowing easy access for the public and employees. This year, NEA Baptist and Jonesboro Police Department DARE have partnered to do a Take Back Event at each of the NEA Baptist Farmers’ Market dates this year. Anyone who has unused or expired prescriptions and/or over-the-counter medications is encouraged to bring the medicine to the Take Back event for proper disposal.

“NEA Baptist Farmers’ Market was started four years ago and we are excited to see participation grow each year,” said Danial Reed, director of marketing for NEA Baptist, “Our hope is that we can continue to help our community realize the importance of eating right by providing easy access to recipes, local produce, and health information. When individuals take steps in the improvement of their lifestyles, it leads to less chronic disease and better health.”

Health focus areas will include: Mental Health (June 8), Healthy Lifestyles (June 22), Chronic Disease (July 13) and Healthy Lifestyles (July 27). Community partners who specialize in these areas will be at the events to provide educational materials and talk to participants. NEA Baptist will also provide health screenings including blood pressure and glucose at each event.  Kids activities will also be available at each event.
